Children need a developmental society of their peers much as adults need a society of adults. This society is known as "the prepared environment," especially designed to meet the needs of children 2 1/2 to 6 years old. Within this setting the budding will, movement, intelligence and emotions of the child are engaged in purposeful activity.
Our efforts are directed towards:
- providing an environment wherein a child reaches his or her potential
- helping a child become self-disciplined
- encouraging the development of a love of learning
- nurturing the growth of a social and environmental responsibility
BENEFITS
A Montessori education facilitates the creation of a solid foundation for a child's academic strength and success. Researchers report that some of the reasons for the most critical benefits are:
- the specially prepared environment contains the raw materials which, used over time, encourage the desire to learn, the ability to analyze and the confidence to pursue intellectual challenge.
- the child-oriented setting is one in which the older children act as role models. This cooperative learning experience helps develop self-confidence and self-esteem for all.
- A Montessori environment offers a universal approach which breaks barriers of language and culture. This fosters children with an enhanced preparedness for citizenship in an increasingly international and multi-cultural millennium.
"Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future." Maria Montessori
